The death of the Bull by Brett @ 11:50 pm on 06.06.07

The Mini Man recently returned from Spain, and he brought back a bull as a gift for the Orchid Man. I was told that the bull needed constant attention, and if it didn’t get it, that it would become depressed. Apparently the poor thing was convinced that its future either involved being stuck with spears while chasing a red cape, or running down streets after people. Both of which seem pretty stupid to me. Never did I imagine that the bulls psychological needs were so dire - in fact, I thought it was bullshit.

Anyway - I left one night and returned the next morning to find this (luckily, The Sleeper has his camera, as I didn’t have mine):

So, let this be a warning to all those who are contemplating importing emotionally unstable and potentially dead animals (or their stuffed miniature reproductions) from foreign countries that you just don’t have time to care for.

I was nearly giddy to go to this restaurant on the weekend. Nando’s is pure nostalgia for me. With franchises in many countries (including a stronghold in South Africa), Nando’s has made its way to Calgary.

I absolutely recommend trying this place. It is all chicken, so do not go there hoping for anything else.  The best way to describe it is a much better version of Swiss Chalet. The menu is very simple: different portions of chicken, cooked in 4 different sauces (lemon & herb, medium, hot and extra hot) and various side dishes (rice, fries, corn, etc).

The food is simple, and that is its beauty. You can taste the juicy natural chicken flavour perfectly complimented by the world famous Nando’s Sauce. The sauce is spicy, but very tasteful. Be aware though, it’s hot. Medium is a good place to start. Extra-hot is only for the adventurous. I got the “hot” 1/4 chicken with fries. By the end of the meal, I had a nice little sweat on my brow and tingly lips.

This chicken is definitely worth a trip across the city. I can’t wait to go back! 5 out of 5!
