Yes, the sign in the back window, says "Student Driver". Yeah, that's their lunch on top of the car. Yup, they're driving.
This is Anna.

Anna is Barb and Eric's daughter and here she was dressing up for everyone and dancing around during Elan's 7th Birthday party, last year.

I was zoomed back to 18mm and she was very close, so unfortunately, I caught the focus on her costume. Still, I like the sense of motion it gives the scene.
Just a quick post to show what happens when you grind beans. Yeah, pretty obviously, they get smaller. Still, I think it's a neat shot.

This is what happens when you apply heat to green coffee beans. A coffee roaster is like a hot air popcorn ... popper. After about 10 minutes, you'll get something like this. What's great about having your own roaster is you can pick how light/dark you'd like your beans. This is a good roast for me, although I think I'll have to get a bit more into the "espresso" side of things. Especially now that chuck brought his ridiculously cool espresso machine to work.

Green Beans

The first in a 3 piece series I'd like to call "coffee".

Actually, these pictures were all taken with a 300mm lens, and the filter on it was shattered. It's amazing how clear the pictures are, considering that. I've had that lens for 9 years now, and it's been through quite a bit; this is just another testament to Nikon making some seriously enduring gear.
After 7 days on a canoe trip around the Bowron lakes, we made it to our last night. A trend on these lakes is to leave a carving that you made during the trip. So, for quite a few hours on our last day, we just kicked back in the sun and carved things. It was extremely relaxing to spend hours, just kicking back like that. There were no interruptions, no multi-tasking, just ... carving. This is one of the best reasons to go on these trips. You just CAN'T be interrupted. It's very peaceful.

How Starfish move

Starfish. I thought they moved like snails. You know, with sucker type things that held them to the glass. Actually, though, they're made up of thousands of little strands. Usually they're stuck behind the relatively hard shell of the starfish, but they come out when it's moving around. It's kind of like an aquatic millipede, really. And HERE is photographic evidence.

A wild ride

I know, you might be thinking to yourself that this is a pretty grainy shot! And yeah, it is. But, consider the following: It was dusk. It was snowing. I was riding on my dog sled, being pulled at a good clip, facing backwards with no hands on the sled to take this shot. Ben (the subject) was riding with his team at a pretty good pace, trying to pose. So, considering all that, I think it went pretty well!

If you ever get a chance to go dog sledding, I highly recommend it. It was a very peaceful, relaxing and fun experience.
